Physics Quick Review (Quick Reviews)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (January, 1995)
Authors: Linda Huetinck and Linda Huetnick
Average review score:

Very useful study guide
I found this book to be a great refresher. It is not mathematically intense and instead focuses mainly on theory. There is not a very heavy reliance on Calculus, but it is often implied by talking about areas and changes instead of integrals and derivatives. So if you're in a Calc-based physics class, you can still get the basics down.

My only criticism is that there are very few sample problems and no problems at the end of chapters. That keeps the book from being a 5 star in my opinion..

Physiology
Published in Paperback by Springer Verlag (January, 1995)
Authors: Kirk W. Barron and R. Scott Thies
Average review score:

Coherent Yet Manageable
I used this text for a medical school physiology course, and found it to be a very good compromise between a textbook and a review book. If you're in medical school, you know that you don't have time to read a textbook. Still, most review books opt for outlines, charts and tables, and some concepts take a bit more full-sentence explaining. Each section in this book (e.g., renal physiology, respiratory physiology) can be digested in about 2 hours, and you'll learn more than if you sit down to read a review book and try to fill in the blanks yourself. The Oklahoma Notes books are especially good to read at the beginning of your deep studying prior to course exams.

The Plague (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (October, 1985)
Author: Gary Carey
Average review score:

An Easy Way to Grasp the Main Points
I have found that "The Plague" was difficult to grasp since so much information was thrown out to the reader. By reading the cliff notes I was able to take my time and read all the fine print. Overall a great resource and anyone wanting to get an in depth look at "The Plague" read this now.

Plato's Euthyphro, Apology, Crito and Phaedo (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (May, 1979)
Author: Charles H. Patterson
Average review score:

Understanding Plato's Selected Dialogs of Socrates
Not all of the little yellow books with the black stripes deal with literature in the fictional sense, as Charles H. Patterson's Cliffs Notes for Plato's "Euthyphro," "Apology," "Crito" and "Phaedo." "Euthyphro" concerns the meaning of piety, the "Apology" consists of Socrates' speeches in the trial that condemned him to death, "Crito" takes place in prison as Socrates explains why he refused to escape and save his life, and "Phaedo" relates the last hours of Socrates. The introduction covers the lives of both Socrates and Plato, in an effort to help teachers/readers understand the difference between the two. Then each of the four dialogues are covered in turn in the traditional Summary/Commentary manner, although each half is presented as a whole. Of course the dialogues do not have distinct sections, apartment from the "Apology," which consists of three speeches by Socrates before the court. This means that both the summaries and commentaries are large sections that consequently fail to give a sense of structure to the dialogues. This makes them somewhat imposing, although decidedly less so that the actual dialogues. However, the analysis does take into account the argumentative particulars of each dialogue so that readers get a clear sense of how Socrates/Plato advances his case in each one.

The Prince and the Pauper (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (October, 1989)
Author: L. David Allen

The Prince and the Pauper
The book very well authorized the life of two different boys. The situation had split them into the monarchy and the very por class. When these boys switch places they are in for an experience they may never have wanted to see. The saying goes the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Pygmalion and Arms and the Man
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (July, 1984)
Authors: Marilynn D. Harper, Marilynn O. Harper, and James K. Lowers
Average review score:

Understanding the wit and wisdom of George Bernard Shaw
Marilynn O. Harper's Cliffs Notes for George Bernard Shaw's two plays "Pygmalion" and "Arms and the Man" begins with a rather lengthy Life of the Author. After relating the legend of Pygmalion and Galatea, Harper covers Shaw's Preface to "Pygmalion," wherein he proudly declares his play to be didactic, and then offers the traditional Brief Plot Summary and List of Characters. The Summaries and Commentaries are a bit cumbersome since they break down each play by acts; you might want to come up with your own scene divisions to make these a bit more manageable. Harper also deals with Shaw's "Sequel," wherein he explains what happens after the play ends. Character Analyses look at Professor Higgins along with Eliza and Alfred Doolittle. Less time is devoted to looking at "Arms and the Man," which follows the same format as above with Character Analyses of Raina Petkoff, Captain Bluntschli and Sergius Saranoff. Unlike most of the yellow books with the black stripes, this volume does not develop specific themes or other literary devices independent of the provided commentary. "Pygamlion" might be the better known Shavian drama, but the farce "Arms and the Man" might be the more useful one to teachers.

I liked this book because it was very to-the-point and easy to use. It covers the major food groups and breaks down sub-categories well. I use this book to keep a log of what I eat by fat, protein and carbs and find it a very useful.

Ready, Set, Cooperate
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (February, 1996)
Author: Marlene Barron
Average review score:

Great book!
This book includes activities that are great to help children learn to cooperate. Often times we preach to children to do this or that but this book offers practical things to do that are fun and non-academic. The activities cover social studies, art, music, and drama. The limitation of the book is that activities are for children up to age 7. Oh, be sure to check out the other title "Ready, Set, Count" which includes great activities to help your child learn math. Up to age 7 also although the activities in both books can be modified for older children.
